From the Home screen, tap the + button (or "New Session") to create a session. Choose a session type (League, Tournament, or Practice), select your house and oil pattern if applicable, then tap "Start Session."
Once in a session, tap "Add Game" to open the game entry screen. You can enter shots frame by frame using the pin display, or use Score-Only mode to just log the final score.
Frame Entry lets you log every shot — tap the pins that were knocked down after each ball. This enables full statistics including spare conversion rate, first ball average, pin leave analysis, and frame-by-frame trends.
Score-Only mode records just the final game score. It's faster to enter but only contributes to average, high game, and series statistics — frame-level stats are not available.
You can set your handicap percentage and base score in Settings → Player Profile. BowlrIQ uses the standard formula:
Handicap = (Base Score − Bowler Average) × Percentage
For example, with a base of 220 and 90% handicap, a 150 average bowler receives (220 − 150) × 0.90 = 63 pins per game. Your handicap is displayed on the game entry screen and factored into league session summaries.
Go to the Leagues screen from the navigation menu and tap Add League. Fill in the league name, start date, and optional details (house, oil pattern, handicap settings). Mark the league as active so it appears in session creation.
When you start a session and choose "League" as the type, select the league from the list. Games in that session will be linked to the league for tracking series and averages.
On Android and iOS, BowlrIQ caches your data locally. You can view your existing games, stats, and leagues offline. New entries will sync to the cloud automatically when you reconnect.
On the web app, an internet connection is required because the web version uses an in-memory cache only (no persistent offline storage).
Go to Settings → Backup. From there you can export a full JSON backup of all your games, sessions, leagues, frames, balls, and settings. Save the file somewhere safe — you can restore from it if you ever need to.
Your data is also automatically synced to Firebase (cloud) as long as you're signed in, so it's always available across your devices.
The global leaderboard ranks opted-in users by their rolling average from their most recent session. To appear on the leaderboard, go to Settings → Leaderboard and enable the opt-in toggle.
Your display name is shown publicly; your email address is never visible to other users. You can opt out at any time and your entry is removed immediately.
Go to the Friends screen from the navigation menu. Enter your friend's exact email address to search for them (they must have a BowlrIQ account). Once added, you can compare stats and see them on the Friends Leaderboard widget on your dashboard.
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your Firebase Authentication account and all associated Firestore data (games, sessions, leagues, frames, balls, settings, and leaderboard entry). This action cannot be undone.
If you'd like to keep a copy of your data first, use the Backup screen to export it before deleting.
BowlrIQ calculates your overall average from all completed games. Make sure games are marked as complete — incomplete or in-progress games are excluded from averages.
The leaderboard uses your most recent session's average specifically, not your all-time average. Check the Statistics screen for a full breakdown of averages by session type, league, and time period.
BowlrIQ supports importing data from PinPal exports on Android and iOS. Go to Settings → Import from PinPal and select your PinPal export file. The importer will map your games, sessions, and leagues into BowlrIQ's format.
Note: PinPal import is not currently available on the web version — use the Android or iOS app for imports.
Yes. All your bowling data is stored under your unique user ID in Firebase and is not accessible to other users. Only data you explicitly share — like opting in to the leaderboard or adding friends — is visible to others.
We do not sell or share your data with any third parties outside of the Firebase/Google infrastructure used to run the app. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
